Diverse Asset Maintenance Services (DAMS) has secured a long-term Queensland Rail vegetation management contract servicing rail corridors between
St Lawrence and Proserpine
.
n
We are seeking an experienced
Queensland Rail qualified Rail Corridor Protection Officer (RCPO)
to join our team in a permanent part-time role, with expected hours of up to 38 hours per week.
n
This position supports a Queensland Rail contract with an initial term of
3 years
, with a possible
2-year extension
.
n
This is a hands-on role combining both RCPO responsibilities and active participation in vegetation management operations. The successful applicant will work as part of a field crew undertaking slashing, mowing, whipper-snipping, weed control and general vegetation management activities throughout the Queensland Rail corridor.
The Role Rail Safety & RCPO Responsibilities n
The successful applicant will:
n
n
Act as the nominated Queensland Rail qualified RCPO for work crews operating within the rail corridor.
n
Liaise with Queensland Rail Network Control.
n
Authorise worksite access and rail corridor entry.
n
Conduct daily pre-starts and site risk assessments.
n
Ensure compliance with Queensland Rail rail safety requirements.
n
Monitor worksite activities and maintain corridor protection arrangements.
n
Complete rail safety documentation, permits, records and reporting requirements.
n
Coordinate daily work activities and workforce deployment.
n
Vegetation Management Responsibilities n




The successful applicant will also actively participate in operational works including:
n
n
Operating tractors (135HP+).
n
Operating slashing and mowing equipment.
n
Reach mowing and general vegetation maintenance.
n
Ride-on mowing operations.
n
Whipper-snipping around rail infrastructure and assets.
n
Herbicide application and weed spraying programs.
n
Weed management and vegetation control activities.
n
Fire mitigation and fuel-load reduction works.
n
Vegetation clearance around rail assets, signals, level crossings and infrastructure.
n
Daily plant inspections and routine maintenance checks.
n
Completion of work records and operational reporting.
n
n
This is a working supervisor position and applicants must be willing and capable of actively participating in field operations.
Essential Requirements n
Applicants must hold:
n
n
Current Queensland Rail RCPO Qualification.
n
Current RIW Card.
n
Current Category 3 Rail Medical.
n
Queensland Rail SARC Qualification.
n
Working in Electrified Territory (WET).
n
Apply Fatigue Management Strategies competency.
n
Construction Industry White Card.
n
Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
n
Demonstrated Queensland Rail corridor experience.
n
Experience operating tractors, slashers, mowers or similar plant.
n
Ability to travel throughout regional Queensland as required.
n
Highly Desirable n
n
Network Lockout competency.
n
Operate Under Track Protection Rules competency.
n
ACDC Chemical Accreditation.
n
Herbicide spraying experience.




n
Chainsaw competency.
n
Brush cutter / whipper-snipper competency.
n
First Aid Certificate.
n
Experience supervising field-based crews.
n
Vegetation management experience within rail, civil, local government or infrastructure environments.
n
Travel & Away-From-Home Work n
This position involves working throughout the Queensland Rail corridor between
St Lawrence and Proserpine
.
n
Applicants must be willing to:
n
n
Travel regularly throughout the contract area.
n
Stay away from home during the working week when required.
n
Work on projects involving overnight stays in motel-style accommodation.
n
Work in both urban and remote regional locations.
n
n
Company-provided motel-style accommodation will be supplied when employees are required to work away from home. Applicable meal and living-away-from-home allowances will be paid in accordance with employment conditions.
