Job Description
A well-established precision engineering company in regional Australia is seeking an experienced
CNC Lathe and/or Manual Lathe Machinist
to join our production team. We specialise in high-quality, low-to-medium volume component manufacturing across a range of industries.

This role is suited to a tradesperson or highly experienced operator who can work autonomously, maintain tight tolerances, and contribute to continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Set up, program and operate CNC lathes and/or manual lathes
n
Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and job sheets
n
Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials (mild steel, stainless, aluminium, alloys)
n
Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality control using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, thread gauges)
n
Maintain dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements to specification
n
Edit programs and offsets to optimise machining efficiency and tool life
n
Conduct routine preventative maintenance and ensure machines are kept in optimal working condition
n




Contribute to process improvements, tooling strategies, and lean manufacturing practices
n
Trade qualification in Engineering (Machining) or equivalent industry experience
n
Demonstrated experience with turning CNC/Manual (Fanuc controls preferred)
n
Strong G-code knowledge and ability to edit programs
n
Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and produce repeatable, high-quality components
n
Solid understanding of cutting tools, inserts, work holding, and machining principles
n
Competence in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings
n
High level of attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
n
Reliable and punctual
n
Experience with CAD/CAM software
n
Multi-axis machining experience
n
