Production Manager – Gyprock Coopers Plains

CSR is a leading Australian manufacturing business with a proud history of delivering trusted building products to the construction industry.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Manager to join our Gyprock manufacturing site in Coopers Plains during a period of significant growth, increased production capability and site transformation.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this newly created role will operate as the second-in-command (2IC) , providing day-to-day leadership of production operations while supporting commissioning activities, workforce expansion and continuous improvement initiatives.
With responsibility for leading supervisors and operators, you'll play a key role in driving performance across safety, quality, productivity, cost and customer service outcomes.
Working closely with maintenance, HR, customer service and operational stakeholders, you will help shape the site's future as it prepares for increased production volumes and ongoing growth.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious manufacturing leader looking to make a significant impact while developing the skills and experience required to progress into a future Manufacturing Manager position.
This role offers work-life-balance with Monday to Friday hours (9am or 10am start).
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading daily production operations to achieve safety, service, quality and cost targets
* Supporting commissioning activities and optimisation of a new plaster mill
* Driving continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
* Monitoring production performance, KPIs and OEE, implementing corrective actions where required
* Building accountability and performance across production teams
* Supporting workforce planning, cross-skilling and capability development




* Managing production budgets, waste reduction and operational efficiencies
* Partnering with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability
* Championing Zero Harm and WHSE compliance across all operations
* Supporting positive employee and union relationships
* Acting as site leader in the Manufacturing Manager's absence
About You
We are looking for a hands-on leader who can engage teams, drive cultural change and deliver measurable operational improvements.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment
* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
* Demonstrated success leading production or operations teams in manufacturing
* Solid Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement capability, including exposure to 5S and operational excellence methodologies
* Experience improving productivity, reliability, quality and OEE outcomes
* Proven ability to coach, develop and lead high-performing teams
* Strong financial acumen and experience managing production costs and budgets
* Project management experience, ideally including commissioning, upgrades or capital works projects
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* A resilient, outcomes-focused leadership style with a strong commitment to safety
