The Role
We have exciting new opportunities for experienced Dental Assistants to join SCHS as part of our Public Dental Service Team.
The Dental Assistant, as part of the broader Public Dental Multidisciplinary Team will provide high quality dental care, support and education to all eligible clients attending the Public Dental Service.
Key Selection Criteria
Mandatory:
Qualifications
Dental Assistant Certificate and Badge issued by the Australian Dental Association, or equivalent.
Experience
Demonstrated experience working as a Dental Assistant.




Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to liaise with persons from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Must be able to demonstrate high levels of creativity and flexibility in dealing with issues which arise in the health system.
Knowledge
An understanding of the issue of confidentiality
Understanding of OHS and Infection Control standards particularly related to Dental Services.
Understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
Personal abilities / aptitudes / skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including co-workers, patients, parents and other health professionals.
Commitment to public health principles.
Basic computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and show leadership when required.
Previous Public Dentistry experience.
Experience with TITANIUM dental IT software.
Demonstrated advance experience in infection control and/or OHS.

This includes reference checks and National Police Check for all SCHS employees.
Any prospective employee who has resided and worked overseas in the past 10 years for a continuous period of 12 months or more will be required to undergo an International Criminal History Check.
Where applicable, employees may also be required to hold a current Working With Children check issued in the state of Victoria and have a current NDIS Clearance (NDIS Worker Screening Check).
Department of Health Guidelines for Immunisation of Health Care Workers require all staff to demonstrate immunity to specific preventable diseases.
As part of the recruitment process, the preferred applicant is required to provide evidence of immunisation (and/or serology) to confirm they are protected from risk.
