Matthies Lawyers are looking for a passionate law graduate or junior lawyer (straight out of Leo Cuseen, or up to 2 years post admission experience) to join our supportive and inclusive team. Matthies Lawyers is a boutique firm specialising in Family Law and Wills and Estates.

About the role n
This full-time role offers a adaptable and rewarding work environment, where you will have the opportunity to grow and develop as a valued member of a supportive and collaborative team. It will require you to:

Manage your own matters and cases semi-autonomously, with the support and supervision of the firm's principal;
n
Work across a variety of different legal matters and manage multiple cases simultaneously in a range of areas of law;
n
Under supervision, advise and represent clients, with a focus on helping them achieve the best possible outcome - skills developed in hospitality or retail will be useful;
n
Assist in drafting parenting orders, property orders and financial agreements, along with Wills and Powers of Attorney;
n
There will also be administrative tasks required to support the Principal.

About you n
To be successful in this role, you will have a professional and friendly manner and preferably you will have worked while studying in a public facing role and be used to dealing with customers in retail or hospitality or other professional services businesses. Other criteria include:

Completed a law degree within Australia;
n
Currently completing or have completed a legal practice course within Australia to qualify you for admission to the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia;
n
Robust communication, problem solving skills and can demonstrate initiative and people skills;
n
Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and using initiative to problem solve;
n
Have robust attention to detail along with Information Technology skills;
n
Solid academic results;
n
Possess exceptional communication skills - written and verbal; and
n
Enjoy working with people and building honest, open relationships.
