Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation - GP Services
is an
Aboriginal community-controlled health service,
which aims to deliver culturally appropriate primary health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to Aboriginal people and their families in our community.
n
Ungooroo is looking for a part time Practice Nurse to provide supportive clinical care as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, focused on improving health outcomes for the local Aboriginal community and others who use the service.
n
Days/Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am-5pm (30 min lunch breaks).
n
The Practice Nurse will work closely with Ungooroo general practitioners in providing primary health care and support services.
n

ABOUT THE ROLE
n
General health screening and assessment
n
First aid assistance with emergency procedures
n
Work with the clinic GPs to provide assessments and support the preparation of health management and care plans.
n
Coordinate clients within the multidisciplinary health team and feedback between the services, patients and GP.
n
Diagnostic procedures (eg ECG) and assistance with minor procedures and wound care.
n
Maintenance of client clinical records and compliance with all statutory obligations.
n
Work with the clinic GP's/ Practice Nurse and GP/Nursing Students
n
Coordinate clients within the multidisciplinary health team and feedback between the services, patients and GP.
n
Maintenance of client clinical records and compliance with all statutory obligations.

ABOUT YOU
n
Current registration as a Registered Nurse, AHPRA Registered Nurse
n
Understanding of current health issues relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities particularly with chronic disease.
n
Experience using Best Practice software (desirable)
n
Effective organisational and time management skills
n
Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with all relevant legislation and legal obligations related to nursing and patient care.
n
Demonstrate patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in patient needs.
n
Effective interpersonal and communication skills across all ages and social groups.
n
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information.
n
Experience in similar role as practice nurse highly desirable
n
The successful candidate must be willing to provide a clear criminal record check and current paid working with children check prior to appointment.
