Job Description
We are looking for a qualified, fit, fun, gentle and understanding support worker to join our complex care team and provide support to a yound adult male living with AuDHD (Autism and ADHD), PDA (Pathalogical demand avoidance), ODD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) and selective/non-speaking communication. We are seeking to find qualified and experienced disability support workers who are patient, gentle, playful and willing to help build on existing capacity.
About the role: n
Approximately ***** hours per week
n
Minimum shift 6 hours, with inactive overnight shift, monday through to sunday.
n
We run a 7 day roster which may also include relief shifts to cover staff absence.
The right person will ideally be: n
n
Fit, fun, warm, patient and gentle
n
A good understanding of kidney health, healthy eating and following nutrition restrictions and guidelines
n
Experienced working with AuDHD, PDA, ODD and selective/non-speaking autism (minimum 2 years experience)
n
Comfortable supporting a person through dysregulation and implementing behaviour support strategies
n
Understanding of alternative/non-speaking communication and communication differences (echolalia and delayed processing)
n
Familiar with PDA-informed, low-demand approaches
n
Confident following strategies recommended by the wider care team
n
Reliable, respectful and able to build a genuine connection through play and shared interests
n
Calm and versatile when things don't go according to plan
n
Requirements: n
n
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
n
Minimum Cert 3 in disability support or similar
n
Minimum 2 years experience in disability support, complex care or SIL support
n
Previous experience supporting children and adults with complex support needs is highly desirable
n
What the support may involve: n
n
Assisting with appointments and community access
n
Supporting ADLs and everyday routines (meal preperation, morning routine, and evening routine)
n
Helping during periods of dysregulation (implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation strategies)
n
Progress note writing, bowel charting, medication charting, incident reports and progress notes
n
Helping build confidence and independence
n
ENGAGE, facilitate activities and generally having some fun together!
n
