Job Brief:
n
Position:Rope Access Technician
n
Location: Tweed Heads, NSW
n
Job type: Full Time, 38 hours/week
n
Salary range: AUD 120k to 130k
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Perform rope access activities in accordance with IRATA requirements, company procedures and site specific requirements.
n
Safely access wind turbine blades using approved rope access techniques to carry out inspection, maintenance and repair activities.
n
Perform detailed visual inspections of wind turbine blades and identify defects including cracks, erosion, lightning damage, delamination, leading edge wear and structural damage.
n
Carry out composite blade repairs, surface preparation, laminating, filling, sanding, finishing and coating applications in accordance with approved repair specifications and manufacturer requirements.
n
Complete blade cleaning, preventative maintenance and protective coating works as required.
n
Conduct pre-use inspections of rope access equipment, PPE, rescue equipment and tools, ensuring all equipment remains compliant and serviceable.
n
Establish, inspect and maintain rope systems and anchor points in accordance with IRATA requirements.
n
Monitor weather conditions, wind speeds and environmental factors, suspending work whenever conditions become unsafe.
n
Participate in rescue planning and emergency response activities and maintain readiness to perform rope access rescues.
n
Accurately complete inspection reports, repair records, quality documentation, photographic evidence and daily work reports.
n
Report blade defects, equipment faults, hazards, incidents and non-conformances to the Rope Access Supervisor or Site Manager immediately.
n
Comply with all Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), permits and company Health,
Safety and Setting (HSE) procedures.
n
Work collaboratively with Blade Platform Operators, Blade Technicians, Supervisors and other site personnel to safely complete inspection and repair works.
n
Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, organised and serviceable condition.
n
Participate in toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, competency assessments, emergency drills and ongoing training.
n
Promote a positive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across all project sites.
n
Skills
n
n
Sound understanding of industrial rope access systems, equipment and techniques.
n
Knowledge of wind turbine blade inspection, composite repair techniques and quality standards.
n
Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
n
Ability to work safely at heights in challenging environmental conditions.
n
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
n
Ability to identify defects, damage and deterioration in wind turbine blades.
n
Competent in the safe use of hand tools, power tools and composite repair equipment.
n
Ability to complete inspection reports, repair documentation and photographic records.
n
Physically fit with the ability to perform demanding work at height.
n
Calm, safety-focused and capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
n
Qualifications
n
n
Construction White Card.
n
IRATA Level 1, 2 or 3 Certification (or SPRAT equivalent, where applicable).
n
GWO Basic Safety Training (BST).
n
Working at Heights.
n
Current First Aid and CPR.
n
Rescue from Heights competency.
n
Current Australian Driver Licence.
n
High Risk Work Licence (desirable).
n
Experience performing wind turbine blade inspections and repairs (desirable).
