About the Opportunity
n
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected supplier to the Australian mining industry for an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist – Milling to join their manufacturing team.
n
Currently based in Sunshine, the business will be relocating to Airport West at the end of July.
n
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the manufacture of CNC machined components for tools, jigs and fixtures used throughout the manufacturing process, supporting the changing requirements of a diverse client base.
n
This position would suit an experienced CNC
Programmer/Machinist
or Toolmaker who is confident programming using CAM, setting and operating CNC milling machines, and producing precision tooling components from start to finish.
n
Hours & Rate
n
Monday – Thursday: 6:00AM – 2:30PM
n Friday: 6:00AM – 12:00PM
n
Rate: $***** – $***** p/hr, based on experience and skillset
Key Responsibilities n
n
Writing CNC programs using CAM
n
Setting up and operating CNC milling machines
n
Setting up tooling and workpieces and trialling CNC programs
n
Preparing and setting up workpieces ready for machining
n
Setting multiple workpiece coordinates and tool lengths
n
Selecting and setting appropriate tooling for each job
n
Monitoring tool condition and replacing tooling as required
n
Completing in-process and final inspection of CNC machined components
n
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing specifications
n
Performing regular maintenance checks on CNC machinery
n
Troubleshooting and adjusting machinery as required
n
Operating manual machines when required
n
Assembly and maintenance of tooling as directed
n
Providing skilled support across the Engineering, R&D; and Production Teams
n
Effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
n
Maintaining a safe, organised and positive working environment
n
CNC Tooling Manufacture n
n
Open cast tooling
n
Compression mould tools
n
Injection mould tools
n
Jigs and fixtures
n
Other specialised tooling components used throughout the manufacturing process
n
n
Exposure to or experience with EDM wire-cutting will also be highly regarded.
Qualifications & Experience n
n
Demonstrated experience in CNC programming and milling
n
Strong CAM programming capability
n
Previous CNC machine setup and operating experience
n
Toolmaking or precision manufacturing experience
n
Experience manufacturing tooling, jigs and fixtures highly regarded
n
Ability to confidently set workpieces, coordinates and tool lengths
n
Solid ability to read and interpret technical drawings
n
Experience completing precision measurements and inspections
n
Manual machining experience
n
EDM wire-cutting experience highly regarded
n
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‐quality work
n
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‐solving skills
n
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within Engineering, R&D; and Production teams
n
Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
n
