Minga Bunaan Gunyah | Nowra Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Workers & Practitioners & Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Full time 35 hours per week✨Identified position – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander & FemaleWaminda is seeking a passionate and dedicate Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) to join our Gadhu Balaang Biyani program.
This role provides an opportunity to work within a culturally safe, holistic and woman-centred model of care that supports Aboriginal women and families throughout their Primary Health Care journey.As an AHP, you will deliver primary health care, health education, advocacy and care coordination that strengthens the social, emotional, cultural and physical wellbeing of Aboriginal women and their families.About the RoleWorking across Waminda's services and outreach locations throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, you will:
Provide culturally safe, holistic and client-centred primary health care
Conduct health assessments, observations, triage and care planning
Deliver health education and preventative health initiatives
Support women and families to navigate health services and access appropriate care
Work collaboratively with nurses, GPs, allied health professionals and community stakeholders
Participate in community engagement and health promotion activities.
About YouWe are looking for someone who:
Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman (An applicant's gender and race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14(d) and 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****of (NSW))




Holds current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner and maintains relevant professional requirements
Has experience delivering primary health care in community or clinical settings
Demonstrates a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culturally safe practice
Has excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care
Is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal women, children and families.
Essential Requirements
Current Aboriginal Health Practitioner registration with AHPRA
Current NSW/ACT Driver Licence
National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
Current immunisation compliance
Aboriginal Health Worker will be considered.
However, the successful applicant must obtain AHP qualifications and AHPRA registration within an agreed timeframe
