Help Transform the Future of Epilepsy Surgery
Full-time, fixed-term (3.5 years) position at our Hawthorn campus
Scholarship stipend of $42,440 per annum
Are you passionate about epilepsy research, neuroimaging, and advanced data analysis? Join a cutting-edge research team at Swinburne University's Centre for Mental Health and Brain Sciences and contribute to creative research that has the potential to improve outcomes for people living with drug-resistant epilepsy.
This exciting full-time PhD scholarship is linked to a successful NHMRC Ideas Grant investigating Non-invasive Dynamic 3D Phase-Velocity Field Imaging (PVFI) to advance epilepsy surgery eligibility and outcomes.
About the Project
Epilepsy surgery offers hope to many patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy, but accurately identifying the brain regions responsible for seizures remains one of the biggest challenges in clinical practice.
As a PhD candidate, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop, validate, and translate innovative source imaging and 3D PVFI technologies using High Density Electroencephalography (HDEEG) and Magnetoencephalography (MEG). Your research will contribute to improving the localisation of epileptogenic brain regions, supporting better identification of suitable surgical candidates and ultimately enhancing surgical success rates.
This project sits at the intersection of neuroscience, neuroimaging, computational modelling and clinical translation, offering a unique opportunity to undertake impactful research with real-world health outcomes.
If you're looking for a PhD project that combines innovative technology, neuroscience, clinical translation and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to patients' lives, we'd love to hear from you.
About You
We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated candidate with a strong academic background in a relevant discipline, including:
