Curis Recruitment is excited to partner with a fantastic Aboriginal health service in the Kimberley to find an experienced Registered Nurse to join their team as a School Health Nurse, based in Western Australia.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse with a background in child health, school health, community nursing or Aboriginal primary health care who is looking for a role where they can genuinely make an impact.
You will work with children and young people aged 4–17 years, helping to improve health outcomes through early intervention, health education, preventative healthcare and strong engagement with families, schools and the wider community.
What’s on offer?
- Base salary of $127,618 per annum + super
- $13,000 accommodation allowance per annum
- District allowance: $2,149 single / $4,298 double per annum
- $1,440 electricity allowance per annum
- $1,285 annual airfare after 12 months of service
- Salary packaging of up to $30,000 per annum
- Permanent full-time position
The Role
As the School Health Nurse, you will coordinate and deliver school-based health services with a strong focus on prevention, early intervention and improving health literacy.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing evidence-based healthcare to children and their families
- Delivering school-based health assessments, education and preventative health programs
- Providing routine immunisations
- Supporting the development and delivery of child and school health initiatives
- Working closely with schools, families,
health professionals and community organisations
- Promoting positive health behaviours and improving health literacy
- Collecting and reviewing health information to identify trends and opportunities for service improvement
- Travelling to communities when required
- Providing culturally safe, respectful and family-centred healthcare
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Experience within School Health, Child Health, Community Health or Indigenous Primary Health Care
- A genuine interest in improving health outcomes for Aboriginal children and families
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence delivering health education to children, families and community groups
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
