The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Data Centre Technician to join a leading global technology distribution and infrastructure solutions organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Working across two established data centre sites in North Ryde and Pemulwuy, you will play a key role in maintaining and supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure, ensuring high standards of operational reliability, security and customer service.
This is a hands-on technical position suited to someone with a strong background in data centre operations, IT hardware support and structured cabling who enjoys working autonomously in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, relocate and decommission servers, networking equipment and associated IT infrastructure.
- Perform structured copper and fibre cabling, including installation, patching, testing, labelling and documentation.
- Support hardware deployments, infrastructure upgrades, equipment relocations and technology refresh projects.
- Troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues, coordinating vendor support and escalations as required.
- Maintain accurate asset records, rack elevations and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems.
- Coordinate on-site contractors, vendors and customer requests while ensuring adherence to site security and safety procedures.
- Assist with disaster recovery testing, UPS testing and other operational readiness activities.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, identify operational risks and maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting.
About You
To be successful in this role,
you will ideally bring:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in data centre operations, mission-critical infrastructure or a similar technical environment.
- Proven hands-on experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting IT hardware.
- Strong structured cabling experience across Cat5e, Cat6 and fibre optic cabling (OM3, OM4 and OS2).
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, rack elevations and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with asset management, infrastructure documentation and DCIM systems.
- Robust troubleshooting, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise competing tasks and engage confidently with customers and vendors.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel between the two Sydney sites.
- Ability to safely undertake manual handling, ladder work and other physical activities associated with data centre operations.
