Join the Aboriginal Programs and Partnerships Team
The Aboriginal Programs and Partnerships Team helps create opportunities for Aboriginal people across the Department of Customer Service (DCS).
Our team works on programs and projects that support:
- Aboriginal employment and career pathways
- Aboriginal staff across DCS
- Creating workplaces where Aboriginal people feel welcomed, supported and valued
- Events, initiatives and activities that celebrate Aboriginal culture and achievement
As a trainee, you'll get behind-the-scenes experience of how a large government department supports Aboriginal employees and creates opportunities for Aboriginal people to build rewarding careers.
What will you do?
As a School-Based Trainee,
you'll be part of a supportive team and help with a variety of tasks while learning new skills.
Some of the things you might do include:
- Helping organise meetings and events
- Preparing documents, presentations and team resources
- Updating information in spreadsheets and databases
- Assisting with projects and team activities
- Managing emails and general administration tasks
- Using workplace programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
- Learning how government teams work together to support Aboriginal employment and career opportunities
No previous work experience is required.
You'll be supported every step of the way through:
- Aboriginal mentors
- Workplace buddies
- Dedicated program coordinators
- A supportive team committed to your success
Positions are available in:
- Parramatta or Sydney City
These traineeships are funded through the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant, which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access employment and career development opportunities within the NSW Public Sector.
