Job Description
MJI Group Pty Ltd is a telecommunications services provider operating across Australia. The company delivers telecommunications infrastructure services to major providers and contractors, including Service Stream, NBN Co, Telstra and Optus. MJI Group supports telecommunications network installation, upgrades, commissioning and maintenance through its technical and field operations.
The Role
MJI Group is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technical Officer or Technologist to support the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment and network infrastructure. The successful applicant will assist with technical investigations, system performance testing, fault diagnosis and the implementation of technical solutions to support reliable telecommunications services.
The role requires strong technical knowledge, analytical skills and attention to detail, together with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with project managers, technicians and field teams.
Duties
• Assist with the installation, configuration, testing and commissioning of telecommunications equipment and network infrastructure.
• Conduct technical inspections, investigations and performance testing to assess the operation and reliability of telecommunications systems.
• Diagnose telecommunications faults, investigate technical issues and assist with implementing corrective solutions.
• Monitor telecommunications equipment and network performance, identify irregularities and recommend appropriate remedial action.
• Test and maintain telecommunications transmission systems, associated equipment and network components.
• Interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, equipment specifications and project documentation.
• Assist with commissioning activities, system integration and verification that installations meet technical and operational requirements.
• Investigate equipment failures and support repair, replacement and maintenance activities.
• Prepare technical reports, testing results, commissioning records and maintenance documentation.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, technicians, contractors and other stakeholders to coordinate technical activities.
• Ensure work complies with relevant technical standards, project specifications, workplace health and safety requirements and applicable telecommunications regulations.
• Support the timely completion of telecommunications projects while maintaining quality, safety and operational performance.
Qualifications and Skills
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2), or an equivalent relevant qualification and/or experience appropriate to the position.
• At least three years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
• Robust technical analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment specifications and network documentation.
• Knowledge of telecommunications systems, testing procedures and maintenance practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare technical reports.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team.
