The Boo is a much-loved community club in the heart of Newstead, where locals gather for great food, good company and a relaxed atmosphere. We take pride in serving honest, quality meals to our guests, and we're looking for a passionate chef to join our friendly kitchen team.

The Role

We are seeking a Casual Chef to work 15–30 hours per week, with shifts across lunch and dinner services, including weekends. For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to move into a full-time position in January 2027.

Responsibilities

· Prepare, cook and present a range of club-style meals to a consistently high standard

· Assist with menu planning, specials and seasonal updates

· Manage stock levels, ordering and receiving of goods

· Maintain kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and food safety in line with Queensland Food Safety Standards

· Monitor portion control and minimise waste to help manage food costs

· Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality





· Support and collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff

· Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures

About You

· Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or equivalent) – or equivalent industry experience

· Previous experience in a club, pub or restaurant kitchen

· Solid knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (Food Safety Supervisor certificate highly regarded)

· Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team

· Reliable, well-organised and calm under pressure

· Availability to work a flexible roster including weekends and some public holidays

· A positive, community-minded attitude
