Where you'll be working
Join the Patient Liaison team at Westmead Hospital, supporting patients, clinical teams and staff across a dynamic healthcare environment. You will combine customer service, financial administration and healthcare revenue expertise to support positive patient and business outcomes.
- Work closely with patients, clinical teams, Finance and hospital stakeholders
- Support accurate financial classification and revenue management
- Provide on-site advice, training and guidance to staff and the PLO team
- Work across the hospital environment, responding to changing operational needs
- Contribute to a collaborative team committed to quality, compliance and service
What you'll be doing
As a Patient Liaison Officer, you will assess patient admissions and determine the appropriate financial classification while ensuring revenue processes are accurate, timely and compliant with NSW Health requirements.
- Assess Emergency Department, planned and direct ward admissions, including MVA, DVA, workers compensation, overseas and Defence Force classifications
- Interview patients and provide clear advice about financial classifications, private health insurance and healthcare costs
- Manage admission documentation, acute care certificates, fund checks, claims information and iPM updates
- Use revenue and billing systems to identify opportunities, maintain accurate records and support revenue maximisation
- Provide training, resolve patient and stakeholder enquiries, and contribute to policy and process improvements

4. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts professionally and maintain positive stakeholder engagement.
5.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, with an understanding of NSW Health information systems for billing and patient administration, ensuring accurate data management and compliance.
6. Willingness and availability to work morning and afternoon shifts as part of a 7-day roster, ensuring continuous support and operational coverage across multiple facilities.
7. Proven ability to lead change initiatives, implement current systems and processes, and provide training and support to ensure smooth transitions and operational improvements.
8. Ability to interpret, apply, and ensure adherence to NSW Health policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and contributing to best practices in patient revenue management.
