About the role
This is a permanent full-time (35 hours/week) opportunity based at Foyer Central in Chippendale.
Foyer Central is located in the heart of Sydney and offers 53 studio apartment-style accommodation for young people aged 18–22 with lived experience of out-of-home care.
Foyer Central is an innovative, evidence-informed program supporting young people’s transition to adulthood and independence.
Using a strengths-based Advantaged Thinking practice approach, the program aims to provide young people with opportunities to build their skills, confidence and independence in a connected and vibrant community.
As the Education, Employment & Pathways Coach, you’ll play an integral role in supporting young people to explore and engage in meaningful education, training and employment opportunities.
Working collaboratively with Youth Development Coaches and the broader Foyer Central team, you’ll deliver and facilitate structured and informal learning opportunities, provide mentoring and coaching, and build strong partnerships with education providers, employers and community organisations.
Your goal will be to motivate and empower young people to recognise their strengths, develop their skills and achieve their individual education and employment goals, supporting positive pathways towards independence, while Supporting Yong People to complete their Foyer Life Skills Course.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences and/or demonstrated relevant experience working with young people.
- A passion for supporting young people and an understanding of the challenges faced by those transitioning from out-of-home care.
- Demonstrated experience supporting young people to engage in education, training and employment opportunities.
- Experience in career advisory, employment services or working with education and training providers.
- The ability to initiate and maintain positive relationships with employers, education providers, training organisations and community services.
- An understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice, with a willingness to embrace the Advantaged Thinking approach.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
- A current NSW Driver Licence, Working with Children Check and the ability to work flexible hours.
