Job description
As a Systems Administrator, you will play a key role in managing, maintaining, securing, and optimising the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, databases, and network systems. You will be responsible for ensuring system reliability, data integrity, information security, and business continuity to support the company’s daily operations and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving server hardware and software issues, including workstations and communication infrastructure.
- Designing and maintaining database architecture, data structures, tables, dictionaries, and naming conventions to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Managing system security, backup and recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning to maintain data integrity and system reliability.
- Testing database systems and upgrades, identifying, documenting, debugging, and resolving issues in accordance with approved testing procedures.
- Monitoring network performance, ensuring proper integration of computer site components, and recommending infrastructure improvements.
- Developing and maintaining database documentation, technical guidelines, policies, and operational procedures.
- Liaising with security vendors, suppliers, and service providers to assess, recommend, install, and maintain security software, monitor service performance, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements.
- Maintaining system logs, technical documentation, operational instructions, and procedures.
- Assessing existing infrastructure, identifying future network requirements, and recommending enhancements to server and network systems.
- Establishing and maintaining preventive maintenance procedures, backup systems, and recovery processes while enforcing database security and integrity controls.
Skill & Experience
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline
- At least three years of relevant IT experience, particularly in systems administration, including server management, database administration, network infrastructure, system security, backup and recovery, and technical troubleshooting.
- Completion of the Professional Year Program in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) through the Australian Computer Society (ACS) will be highly regarded.
- Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
