Love pastry, baking and creating desserts that look as good as they taste? RACV Cape Schanck Resort is looking for a passionate Pastry Chef de Partie to join our culinary team on a permanent part-time basis. This is a hands‑on pastry role where you'll have the opportunity to create a variety of pastries, cakes, plated desserts and baked goods across our restaurants, weddings, conferences and events. Reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, you'll be an important part of our Pastry Kitchen, bringing consistency, creativity and attention to detail to everything you produce. About the Chance
Working within our pastry operation, you'll be involved in everything from daily dessert and pastry production through to large-scale events and special occasions.
In this role, you will: Prepare and present high-quality pastries, cakes, plated desserts, baked goods and buffet desserts
Produce pastry and dessert items from preparation through to finishing and presentation
Support the daily operation of the Pastry Kitchen across restaurant service, conferencing, weddings and events
Prepare VIP amenities, celebration cakes and special occasion desserts
Complete pastry mise en place and ensure the section is organised and ready for service
Maintain consistency in flavour, presentation and quality across all pastry products
Assist with pastry production for conferences, weddings, functions and larger events
Bring creativity and attention to detail to dessert presentation and finishing
Support stock rotation, ordering, inventory control and waste minimisation
Share your pastry knowledge and assist in developing apprentices and junior team members
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety
Work closely with the wider Kitchen Brigade to deliver memorable dining experiences
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
You’re a qualified pastry chef who genuinely enjoys the craft of pastry. Whether you're preparing a plated dessert, finishing a cake or getting ready for a busy event, you take pride in the quality and presentation of your work.
You’ll bring: Certificate III in Patisserie or completion of a pastry apprenticeship
Previous experience working in a pastry kitchen within a hotel, resort, bakery, patisserie or similar hospitality environment
Hands-on experience producing pastries, cakes, baked goods and desserts in a commercial kitchen
Confidence with cake and dessert finishing, decorating and plated dessert presentation
Good knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods and dessert production
A strong eye for presentation, consistency and attention to detail
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and stock control
The ability to work calmly and effectively during busy service periods
A positive attitude and genuine passion for pastry
Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays and peak trading periods
As RACV Cape Schanck Resort is located in a regional area with limited public transport options, please consider your ability to reliably travel to and from the resort when applying
You’ll need to have full working rights in Australia, as sponsorship is not available for this opportunity.
