CTE Australia is seeking an accomplished and commercially focused General Manager to lead the next stage of growth and development of our specialist electrical compliance business. Operating across Hazardous Areas, High Voltage and broader electrical compliance disciplines, CTE Australia provides specialist technical services, engineering, auditing, training, field services and equipment solutions to clients operating across a variety of sectors.
Reporting to the company Directors, the General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance, strategic direction and continued development of CTE Australia's five key business units: Projects & Engineering, Auditing, Refrigeration & Electrical, Training, and Equipment Wholesaling.
This is a senior leadership position requiring a strong combination of commercial acumen, operational leadership and technical credibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing these diverse but complementary business units together under a clear strategy - strengthening operational performance, developing our people, maintaining the highest standards of technical and regulatory compliance, and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.
A key focus of the role will be ensuring that CTE Australia continues to be recognised as a trusted authority in electrical compliance. The General Manager will work closely with business unit leaders, technical specialists, clients and industry stakeholders to ensure our services remain technically demanding, commercially competitive and responsive to the evolving needs of industry.
Key responsibilities Strategic & Operational Leadership:
Setting direction across all five divisions, managing resource allocation, and ensuring alignment with CTE's business objectives and client commitments.
Commercial Performance:
Developing and managing divisional budgets, driving revenue growth, margin performance, and workforce planning in conjunction with the Finance Director and HR.
Governance & Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, electrical safety standards, ASQA requirements for the RTO, IECEx/AS/NZS 60079 for the Auditing division, and all applicable Australian Standards.
Business Growth:
Expanding CTE's capabilities with existing clients, pursuing new opportunities across all five divisions
Leadership:
Managing and mentoring divisional leaders, building a high-performance culture, and acting as a key ambassador for CTE externally; with clients, regulators, and the broader market.
About you Capable of operating confidently at both strategic and operational levels
Able to develop the business and its market position while maintaining a robust understanding of the technical, safety and compliance standards upon which CTE Australia's reputation is built
Qualifications: Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), Business Management, or a related field
Experience: Proven track record managing and delivering across electrical contractors and engineering teams in a multi-disciplinary environment
Compliance: Current Queensland Driver's Licence
Current QLD Electrical Licence or Electrical Contractor Licence
Postgraduate qualification in Management or Business Administration (MBA or equivalent)
Certification in project management (PMP, Prince2, or similar)
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Experience with ASQA-registered training organisations and the Standards for RTOs 2015
Exposure to hazardous area (EEHA / IECEx) inspection and auditing environments

Base salary 200-250K
