Primary objective
As a member of the Agency Procurement Services (APS) team, you will work closely with customers across the Northern Territory
Government (NTG) to provide practical, responsive and customer-focused procurement advice and support. You will help guide
procurement activities through each stage of the procurement lifecycle, enabling agencies to achieve compliant, timely,
effective and fit-
for-purpose procurement outcomes.
Context statement
The APS team is a centralised procurement function within the Commercial Services Division of the Department of Corporate and Digital
Development (DCDD). The team partners with NTG staff to deliver practical procurement services that help agencies identify their
requirements, navigate procurement processes and source goods and services needed to support their agency’s service delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Under the guidance of senior members of the APS team, provide customer focused procurement advice and support services in
accordance with the NTG Procurement Framework.
2. Work with customers to prepare straightforward procurement documents, including: procurement planning, specification and request for
quote, the assessment report and related correspondence.
3. Provide accurate contract administration services, such as maintaining up to date information in records, procurement and contract
management systems.
4. Proactively manage assigned procurement activity to ensure customer service standards are achieved.
5. Ensure that all outputs are compliant with the requirements of policy and legislation.
Selection criteria
Essential
1.
Knowledge and understanding of procurement systems and frameworks, procurement and contract administration processes, or
demonstrated transferable skill sets to an equivalent standard with the ability to quickly acquire the knowledge.
2. Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and people of
diverse cultural backgrounds.
3. Established written skills with an attention to detail and ability to prepare correspondence in clear language with well presented,
factual arguments and recommendations.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing quality customer services.
5. Sound level of computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, and
ability to use records, procurement and/or contract management systems, or similar.
6. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, to achieve timely outcomes while working under pressure in a busy work
environment, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,
accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
Desirable
1. Experience in undertaking and/or providing procurement support.
