Role overview

The Motor Mechanic’s purpose is to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and performance. The role involves inspecting mechanical systems, identifying faults, conducting repairs, and performing routine servicing across a range of makes and models. By applying technical expertise and following industry standards, the Motor Mechanic supports effective workshop operations, delivers quality workmanship, and contributes to customer satisfaction and trust in the business.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical issues across a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and safety checks.
- Repair and replace faulty components including brakes, suspension, cooling systems, and transmissions.




- Conduct engine tuning, diagnostics, and performance testing.
- Ensure all work meets Repco Authorised Service Centre standards and industry compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and customer service notes.
- Provide clear explanations of vehicle issues and repair options to customers.
- Uphold workplace health and safety practices and maintain a clean, organised workshop.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of jobs.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and skills

- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
- Current Motor Mechanic trade recognition in Australia.
- Valid driver’s licence (manual preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair methods.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and use diagnostic equipment.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety standards.
