Geox Australia is a growing geotechnical engineering consultancy providing site investigation, engineering assessment, testing and construction support services across Victoria.
We support civil contractors, developers, builders and infrastructure clients across a variety of projects throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
We are looking for a Casual Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team and assist with upcoming project work.
About the Role
This is a flexible, hands-on position involving a combination of geotechnical fieldwork, engineering assessment and technical reporting .
The role would suit someone looking for flexible casual work while gaining exposure to a broad range of geotechnical projects.
Work will vary depending on project requirements and may include individual site inspections, short-term investigation programs and assistance with larger projects.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
- Undertaking geotechnical site investigations
- Supervising drilling and test pit investigations
- Soil and rock logging in accordance with AS 1726
- Carrying out field testing including DCP testing
- Undertaking footing, foundation inspections
- Recording and maintaining accurate field information
- Reviewing field and laboratory testing results
- Preparing borehole and test pit logs
- Preparing factual geotechnical reports
- Assisting with bearing capacity and foundation assessments
- Assisting with pavement investigations
- Assisting with crane pad and working platform assessments
- Liaising with drillers, laboratories, contractors and clients
The type and complexity of work assigned will depend on your experience and technical capability.
About You
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and comfortable undertaking both field and office-based geotechnical work.
Ideally, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Previous geotechnical engineering experience
- Experience with geotechnical site investigations
- Knowledge of soil and rock logging in accordance with AS 1726
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate field records and technical documentation
- A practical approach to site-based problem solving
- Ability to work independently when required
- Willingness to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria
- A current Victorian driver's licence
- A Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Experience with earthworks, pavements, foundations, AS 2870 site classifications, construction inspections and civil infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
