This is a full-time position, generally Monday to Friday, with some weekend and ad hoc program delivery required.
This is not solely an education delivery role. It is a commercially focused position combining marine education, sales, customer engagement and program development.
Reporting directly to the Senior Account Manager, and working closely with the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in growing Sunlover’s education business while ensuring our marine education programs remain engaging, relevant and operationally strong.
The role offers a varied mix of:
Sales and business development – prospecting, building relationships with schools and education partners, responding to enquiries and converting opportunities into bookings
Account and customer engagement – working directly with teachers, education agents and industry partners from initial enquiry through to program delivery
Program coordination – managing bookings, schedules, school communication and internal operational requirements
Marine education delivery – leading engaging programs at Moore Reef, Fitzroy Island and within the community
Program and content development – continually strengthening Sunlover’s educational offering and alignment with the Australian Curriculum

What you’ll be doing
- Proactively identify and develop new education business opportunities
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of schools, education agents and industry partners
- Follow up enquiries and opportunities with a strong focus on conversion and repeat business
- Attend B2B meetings, trade engagements and industry events to present and promote Sunlover’s education programs
- Work closely with the Sales team to manage education enquiries, proposals and bookings
- Lead communication between Sales, Education and Operations to ensure programs are delivered effectively
- Build long-term relationships with teachers, schools and education partners
- Deliver engaging marine education experiences on land, at sea and within the community
- Maintain and enhance the quality of educational interpretation across Sunlover products
- Support the recruitment, training and development of team members involved in educational interpretation
- Develop educational resources and content relating to the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island and marine conservation
- Align activities and educational content with the Australian Curriculum
- Lead student engagement, presentations and public-speaking activities
- Maintain and develop education-specific risk assessments
- Lead Sunlover’s environmental education credentials, initiatives and associated deliverables
- Contribute to, or lead specialised projects, partnerships and relevant grant submissions
About you
We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable presenting to a classroom, talking reef ecology on a pontoon and sitting across the table from a potential business partner.
You will have:
- A qualification in Marine Biology or a closely related field
- Full working rights in Australia
- Strong sales, relationship-building and customer engagement skills
- Confidence prospecting for new business and converting opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence presenting to groups and conducting one-to-one business meetings
- Strong administration, organisation and follow-up skills
- Knowledge of the Excellent Barrier Reef, marine ecosystems and Fitzroy Island
- The ability to interpret scientific information and translate it into engaging educational content
- An understanding of the Australian Curriculum and the ability to align programs and activities accordingly
- A current Blue Card
- Current First Aid qualifications
Experience within tourism, education, environmental interpretation, sales or business development will be highly regarded.
