Beta Health is seeking a Credentialled Diabetes Educator who is also a Registered Nurse or Accredited Practising Dietitian to join the Ipswich team on a casual basis. This is an opportunity to provide personalised diabetes education, help people build confidence in managing their health, and work alongside a supportive team with a strong focus on evidence-based care. The role will include some paid travel to deliver services outside the Ipswich clinic.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver individualised diabetes education and support to people living with type 1, type 2 and other forms of diabetes.
- Assess each person's needs, health literacy, goals and barriers to self-management, and develop practical care plans in collaboration with them.
- Provide education on glucose monitoring, insulin injection technique, medication use, hypoglycaemia management, sick-day management and prevention of diabetes-related complications.
- Support the use of continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps and automated insulin delivery systems, within your competence and professional scope.
- Review glucose data and identify patterns to inform education, care planning and communication with the treating team.
- Collaborate with GPs, endocrinologists, allied health professionals and other care providers to coordinate care and **escalate concerns appropriately.**
- Involve families, carers and support workers in education where appropriate and with the person's consent.
- Contribute to group education sessions, patient resources and service improvement.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and transparent communication with referring practitioners.
About you
- Current Credentialled Diabetes Educator status with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
- Either current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or current Accredited Practising Dietitian status with Dietitians Australia.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in diabetes education and management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information in clear, practical language.
- A person-centred approach that respects individual preferences, cultural backgrounds and circumstances.
- Sound clinical judgement, including recognising when to seek advice, refer or **escalate** care.
- Ability to manage a clinical caseload, work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Confidence using electronic clinical records and relevant digital platforms.
- Willingness to undertake some paid travel as required.
- Current right to work in Australia and a National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.
