You'll take work prepared by our team through final review. You'll resolve outstanding matters directly with clients and finalise the work in Xero Tax, ready for client approval and lodgement. We're looking for someone who can independently review and finalise work, exercise sound judgement and keep jobs moving through to completion. This role is for someone who's done it many times before and enjoys owning the finish line.

Key responsibilities

- Reviewing and finalising individual and sole trader tax returns, including associated business schedules
- Reviewing BAS, GST treatment and supporting accounting records in Xero
- Identifying and resolving bookkeeping and accounting errors
- Reviewing work prepared by our local and remote teams
- Speaking directly with clients to resolve queries, explain tax outcomes and build lasting relationships
- Signing off fees within the firm's pricing guidelines and giving the team clear billing instructions
- Providing practical, constructive feedback to the accountants preparing the work
- Identifying complex or higher-risk matters and escalating them with a transparent summary and proposed approach

About you

- Substantial, recent experience in Australian public practice, including reviewing work prepared by other accountants
- Confident independently reviewing and finalising individual and sole trader returns
- Strong knowledge of Australian individual and small business tax, GST and BAS
- Practical bookkeeping and reconciliation skills. You can identify an issue and see it through to resolution
- Proficient in Xero and Xero Tax, and comfortable with cloud-based practice systems
- Clear, warm communication and the ability to build rapport with clients




- Excellent attention to detail and sound technical judgement
- Organised and self-directed, with a strong sense of ownership
- Commercial awareness and confidence discussing fees and scope
- CA, CPA or IPA qualifications, tax agent registration and experience reviewing work from remote teams will be highly regarded
