The purpose of the Engagement and Marketing Officer is to foster a positive and inclusive campus experience by facilitating student engagement, developing, and delivering student-focused communications, media and marketing campaigns, and coordinating a diverse range of services, activities and events that bring students together, promote wellbeing and support student development at Southern Cross University, Gold Coast campus.
Key responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and deliver student engagement events and activities both on campus and in the surrounding community
Develop an engaging and varied events program that responds to student interests and needs
Encourage participation and create opportunities for connection that contribute to a positive student experience
Develop and maintain the look, feel and overall brand presence across communications, social media, marketing materials, events and student-facing platforms
Create and coordinate engaging social media campaigns, promotional content and communications
Build awareness of services, programs, events and activities to strengthen connection with students
Respond to student enquiries and deliver student support services
Assist students with individual concerns and represent their interests where appropriate
Assist student clubs and societies with design and creative concepts for engaging student activities
Provide guidance and support on matters that may impact their overall experience while studying
Work requirements
Degree in Marketing, Business, Events, Social Science or other relevant area
Minimum 1-year previous experience in Events and Marketing
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to work occasional after hours or weekends if required for events and courses
Knowledge and experience of student recreation and events such as clubs and volunteering
Selection criteria
Understanding and experience in marketing and design
Demonstrated skills in working with and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite programs
Demonstrated skills in publishing and website software
Proven ability to manage and promote events
Understanding of issues relevant to students and knowledge of student matters
Strong organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a team
Demonstrated understanding of university industry trends and SSAF legislation
A capacity for adaptability and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment
Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and a working knowledge of equity and WHS principles in the workplace
Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
