About the Team
At Peter Mac, patient care is delivered through specialised tumour stream teams, bringing together multidisciplinary experts to provide coordinated, patient-centred cancer care. Ambulatory Services plays a critical role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey, with Patient Navigators and administrative teams helping to ensure a seamless experience across the organisation. The team is committed to continuous improvement, workforce development and building the capability of staff who contribute to exceptional patient care.

About the Role
The Patient Navigator Training Officer is responsible for supporting the growth and development of Patient Navigators and other administrative employees across Ambulatory Services. Working closely with leaders, educators and key stakeholders, you will coordinate and deliver learning initiatives that support onboarding, compliance, career development and career progression. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping to develop a skilled, confident and engaged workforce.

A regular day will see you:
Delivering and facilitating engaging training programs for Patient Navigators and administrative teams.
Developing and maintaining learning resources, eLearning content and educational materials.
Supporting learning governance activities, reporting and administration within the Learning Management System.
Providing career development support and guidance to staff to assist with professional growth and future opportunities.

You'll Bring With You:
Experience designing, coordinating and delivering workplace training, education or learning and development programs.
Demonstrated ability to develop training resources, educational materials and eLearning content.
Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Relevant vocational qualifications and/or experience in education, training, workforce development or a related field.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or the willingness to obtain.
Experience using Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Office applications and other learning technologies.

Position Summary

At the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre our patient care is delivered via a tumour stream model. This means that a patient’s care is coordinated and provided by a multi-disciplinary team of people who have specialist knowledge of a specific type of cancer.

The position will provide guidance to Patient Navigator employees to support them in completing mandatory and professional development training, and progressing through opportunities in line with their role and potential career path. The Patient Navigator Training Officer will provide essential training and assessment activities including:

- designing and developing training programs;
- using training packages and accredited courses to meet employer needs;
- planning, organising and delivering group and individual-based learning to support Patient Navigators and other administrative teams within Ambulatory Services;

Skills

- Has completed and has an understanding of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent or the ability to acquire such within the role
- Relevant vocational qualification and/or competencies at least to the level to be delivered and assessed
- EMR knowledge and experience
- Relevant current industry experience
- An understanding of relevant hospital administration systems
- Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills in an adult learning environment




- Demonstrated ability in development of eLearning training content
- Sound report writing, business communication skills, and presentation skills
- An understanding of learning and development evaluation techniques
- Highly developed communication skills – verbal and written
- Knowledge of safe work practices, ACHS accreditation standards, Aged Care Standards and National Standards
- Proficient use of the Microsoft suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent or the ability to acquire such within the role
- Relevant vocational qualification and/or competencies at least to the level to be delivered and assessed
- Experience working in large and complex organisations; health industry experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in collecting and collating information for reports and other documentation
- Knowledge of e-learning technologies (LMS, SCORM, AICC etc.)
- Experience in use of survey systems such as Menti, REDCap

Key Accountabilities

1. Employee Learning and Development

Develop and deliver a Training Program for Patient Navigators including but not limited to:

- EMR training statement
- Delivery of e-learning and face to face training packages related to organisational standards and organiser mandatory training requirements
- Support and facilitate development of educational resources and professional development opportunities
- Development of a program to enhance knowledge and awareness of quality improvement
- Develop approaches to meet compliance requirements and continually improve workplace practice

2. Governance of Learning and Development for clinical administration employees

- Design, develop and evaluate assessment tools for specific purposes including Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and assessment of training outcomes
- Establish and maintain relationships with all stakeholders (Employers, Employees and Training Providers) to ensure learning programs and related assessments, meet the parties’ needs
- Provide advice to interested parties in relation to course funding and availability
- Contribute to maintenance and record keeping within Peter Mac’s Learning Management System
- Develop formats and templates for learning reports that reflect completions, trends, gaps, curriculum tracking, course feedback, and course effectiveness for a variety of purposes and committees
- Participate in and support relevant education and training committees and related governance processes as required

Understand the short and long term career goals of the cohort of administrators

Assist in developing and delivering group job readiness activities, e.g. resume and cover letter writing and interview techniques
