Position/Title: Graduate Support Engineer
Quoreka provides innovative commodity bulk material management systems to the mining and grain industries. Our clients are large multi-nationals with a global presence in commodities markets, and their operations run around the clock. We are looking for a Graduate Support Engineer to join our Adelaide-based team, to start immediately.
In this entry-level role you will provide front-line support for our implemented systems and products, helping our clients achieve maximum possible uptime. You will be part of a 24/7 rotating on-call support roster, alongside business-hours support,
and will work closely with our Engineering and project delivery teams. Full on-the-job training is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 phone support for client systems as part of a 24/7 rotating on-call roster, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays
- Handle email and ticketed support requests as Tier 1 support during business hours
- Respond to and resolve support requests within the timeframes set out in client support agreements
- Log, record and categorise all support requests, and track each item through to completion
- Analyse, reproduce and document defects raised through support channels, escalating to the Engineering team where required
- Resolve support defects, or test rectifications of defects received from the Engineering team
- Undertake regression testing of product releases
- Assist with preparing and delivering releases to production environments, including release artefacts
- Prepare reporting on support items and contribute to support documentation and knowledge articles
Competencies, Experience And Knowledge
- Basic understanding of control system architectures, PLC system design and programming techniques
- Basic knowledge of the processes involved in the design, implementation and commissioning of automation systems
- Understanding of relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL), and basic scripting skills
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including site operators, engineers, electricians and subject matter experts
- A calm, customer-focused approach when working under pressure
- Robust time-management, documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness and availability to participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call support roster
- Compliance with client Drug and Alcohol policies and other HSE/WHS requirements
Experience in the following would be highly regarded but NOT essential
- Work placements, internships or vacation work in a control systems, automation, IT or support role
- Exposure to IEC 61131 programming standards, or PLCs such as ISaGRAF, Beckhoff, GE Fanuc, Schneider and Allen-Bradley
- Knowledge of XML standards and tools
- Knowledge of .NET / C# or Delphi, or experience troubleshooting applications
- Knowledge of industrial communications standards
- Some exposure to the mining or agribusiness industries
Experience
This is a graduate-level role: no minimum years of industry experience are required. Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided, including training for on-call support duties.
Education
Relevant tertiary qualification, recently completed or nearing completion (i.e. Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Robotics / Computer or Information Science)
