Djinda Produce

Perth

Djinda Produce is Western Australia’s only 100% Aboriginal-owned fresh produce supplier. With over 10 years in the market, we supply fresh fruit and vegetables to government, corporate, and retail customers across WA and are an approved supplier under the WA Government Common Use Arrangement (CUAGRO2019). We’re a close-knit, quick-moving team built on a strong track record of reliable, quality service. We’re hiring a full-time Pick Packer to assemble, pack, and palletise customer orders so every delivery leaves complete, correct, and on time.

About the role

Most of your shift is spent in the coolroom. This is cold, physical work on your feet — picking produce against a pick slip, packing it into cartons, and building pallets that have to hold together all the way to a customer’s dock. Orders go out early, so the day starts early. If you want a warm, seated job, this isn’t it — if you take pride in getting an order exactly right under time pressure, read on.

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you’ll:

Pick customer orders from the supplied pick slip or handheld device, checking product, variety, pack size, and quantity as you go

Pack orders into cartons and build stable, square pallets — heavy on the bottom, lighter on top

Wrap pallets on the machine and move them into the coolroom and the correct dispatch position

Label cartons and pallets accurately, and keep the paperwork with the order

Check quality as you pick — pull out anything damaged, out of spec, or past its best, and raise it rather than sending it

Apply stock rotation (FIFO) and pick product with the right shelf life for the customer

Report shortages and stock discrepancies straight away, and never substitute without the OK

Keep product in temperature — doors closed, product back in the coolroom promptly

Keep your area clean and tidy, help with pallet and crate returns, stocktakes, and general warehouse duties

About you

Genuinely happy working in coolrooms for most of a shift, in the cold-weather PPE we provide

Fit for physical work — on your feet all day, repeated lifting and stacking up to around 20 kg, plenty of bending and reaching

Available for early starts, Monday to Friday, 38 hours a week, with reasonable overtime when the orders demand it

Flexibility to work some Sundays and public holidays where required

Accurate under time pressure — a wrong line or a missed carton shows up on a customer’s dock the next morning

Able to follow written and verbal instructions, with basic numeracy for counts and quantities

A reliable starter who turns up on time and works well in a small team

Previous pick/pack, dispatch, warehouse, or fresh produce experience is a strong plus — as is a forklift licence, though it isn’t essential

We’ll support the right person to complete food safety training — our customers include major national retailers, so food safety standards are not optional here

Right to work in Australia

What’s on offer

Permanent full-time work (38 hours per week) with a growing WA business, competitive pay, and full training in our systems, food safety, and safe manual handling. You’ll work in a small, close-knit warehouse team where everyone covers for each other, and you’ll see the result of your work leave on a truck every morning.
