Care Assist Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and reliable Day Program Assistant to join our team in North Sydney NSW 2060. This is a casual position that offers working arrangements to support individuals with disability needs through our day program services. As a Day Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering quality support and engagement to participants, helping them maintain independence, social connection and overall wellbeing whilst accessing our community-based services.
Key responsibilities
- Providing direct care and support to program participants during day program sessions, assisting with daily living activities as required
- Supporting participants in recreational, social and therapeutic activities designed to promote engagement and wellbeing
- Maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, following relevant health and safety protocols
- Assisting with personal care tasks in a respectful and dignified manner
- Communicating effectively with participants, families, and team members about participant needs and progress
- Supporting the coordination of activities and programs that encourage social participation and community connection
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required by the organisation
- Responding to participant requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Assisting with transport-related duties as needed, including support during transit to and from the day program
What we're looking for
- Experience working in aged care, disability support, or community services environments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- A genuine compassion for supporting vulnerable individuals and a commitment to person-centred care
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Valuable physical fitness and ability to provide hands-on support when required
- Current or willingness to obtain relevant certifications such as First Aid and CPR
- A valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
- Reliability and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to the casual nature of the role
- Demonstrated ability to follow policies, procedures and duty of care responsibilities
- Preferred: Previous experience in day programs, community centers or similar settings
