Empower Management has been retained by a well-established Queensland civil contractor delivering RMS, TMR and council road infrastructure across South East Queensland and the North Coast of New South Wales. The business has a proven record of developing Project Engineers into Senior Project Engineers and Project Managers. It seeks capable engineers who want greater responsibility, a strong understanding of project profitability and, ultimately, the opportunity to lead their own projects.

You’ll work across a strong pipeline of civil infrastructure, including:

TMR & RMS and Council Road upgrades

Pavements and roadworks

Bulk and detailed earthworks

Stormwater and drainage

Structures and bridges

Services and utilities

Concrete and associated civil works

Traffic staging and live-workplace construction

These aren’t roles where you get pigeonholed into one small section of a major project.

You’ll get exposure across the full delivery cycle and work closely with experienced Project Managers, Supervisors and construction teams.

As the Senior Project Engineer, you’ll have genuine ownership across both the technical and commercial side of project delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the Project Manager with overall project delivery, programming and commercial performance
- Developing and monitoring short-term construction programs and look-aheads
- Coordinating Supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and site resources
- Managing RFIs, ITPs, lot records, hold points, QA documentation and technical submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and TMR / Council requirements
- Assisting with construction methodologies, sequencing and temporary works planning




- Monitoring quantities, productivity, labour and plant performance
- Tracking project costs, forecasts and cost-to-complete
- Assisting with procurement, subcontract packages and supplier negotiations
- Managing variations, delays, contractual notices and supporting commercial claims
- Reviewing subcontractor progress claims and performance
- Identifying project risks and commercial opportunities early
- Coordinating client, consultant and stakeholder requirements
- Supporting monthly reporting, forecasting and project financial reviews
- Driving safety, quality and environmental compliance across your work areas

The expectation is that you get involved.

What You’ll Bring

- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
- Around 7+ years of civil construction experience
- TMR experience will obviously be highly regarded, but equally significant is your attitude toward development and taking responsibility.
- Good understanding of civil construction methodology
- Working knowledge of QA, ITPs, RFIs, programming and project documentation
- Exposure to cost control, procurement and subcontractor management
- Ability to read drawings, specifications and project contracts
- Strong communication skills with both site and client-facing teams
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- Genuine ambition to progress into project management
