Immediate StartDemonstrated robust technical accounting skills and proven ability for successFirst steps into management / progression We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and assisting with tax compliance. This role will suit someone with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journals.
- Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, balance sheet, and P&L; reporting.
- Assist with preparation of management reports and variance analysis.
- Support external audit requirements and liaise with auditors as needed.
Taxation & Compliance
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and FBT returns in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with corporate income tax returns and tax effect accounting.
- Monitor GST, PAYG, and payroll tax compliance.
- Liaise with external tax advisors and regulators where required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements.
Other Duties
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and processes.
- Support ad-hoc finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards completion.
- 2-4+ years' experience in financial accounting, preferably with some exposure to tax compliance.
- Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax obligations.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Strong Excel and ERP systems skills (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
