FMS Group is seeking an experienced, trade-qualified Major Shutdown Structural Supervisor to lead structural maintenance, repair and refurbishment works across major mining assets throughout the Bowen Basin, Queensland.

Are you a hands-on leader with a solid background in structural maintenance, fabrication and coal mining shutdowns? Do you have the skills to lead teams in high-risk environments while driving safety, productivity and quality?

Working across multiple Bowen Basin mine sites on a 4D/4N/4off roster, you’ll play a key role in coordinating crews, managing resources and ensuring shutdown works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

About the Role

As Major Shutdown Structural Supervisor, you’ll lead structural maintenance and project crews across a range of mining assets, ensuring work is planned, coordinated and executed to meet safety, quality, schedule and client requirements.

Working closely with site management, project teams, contractors and tradespeople, you’ll provide strong frontline leadership, coordinate labour and resources, and maintain high standards throughout every stage of the shutdown.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate structural shutdown crews across multiple Bowen Basin mine sites.
- Lead structural maintenance, repairs,



refurbishment and project works on draglines, shovels and CHPP equipment
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors to achieve shutdown objectives and project milestones
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures, client requirements and company standards
- Monitor productivity, workmanship and quality to ensure work scopes are delivered efficiently and to specification
- Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety inspections
- Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to boilermakers, welders, riggers, trade assistants and shutdown personnel
- Identify operational risks, address issues promptly and support continuous improvement in safety and productivity

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a capable and proactive leader who combines strong structural trade knowledge with the ability to coordinate people, resources and complex shutdown activities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- A trade qualification in Boilermaking, Metal Fabrication, Engineering Fabrication or a related structural discipline.
- Current S123/G189 and G2 competencies
- Demonstrated experience in structural maintenance and repairs across draglines, shovels and CHPPs
- Strong knowledge of structural steel installation, repairs, welding standards, rigging activities and heavy industry maintenance practices
- A proactive approach to workplace safety, quality and team performance.
- A current Coal Board Medical,
