About the role

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Inclusive Community Programs Project Officer to join our Community Diversity and Inclusion team on a full-time, 12-month contract.

Reporting to the Divisional Head Community Diversity and Inclusion, you will lead the development and implementation of a practical inclusion and accessibility audit framework that helps identify barriers to participation and create opportunities for continuous improvement.

Working collaboratively across Council and with people with disability, community organisations and other stakeholders, you'll help embed inclusive practices into the planning, design, delivery and promotion of programs, services and community initiatives.

This 12-month opportunity offers the chance to make a genuine difference by helping create a community where everyone can participate, contribute and feel welcome, while driving meaningful and lasting improvements in accessibility and inclusion across the City of Salisbury.

Your key responsibilities will include

- Develop and implement an inclusion and accessibility audit and assessment framework.
- Assess Council programs, services and community-facing environments to identify barriers and opportunities for improvement.




- Analyse findings and develop practical recommendations to strengthen accessibility and inclusion.
- Provide advice and support to staff on inclusive and accessible practices.
- Develop training, resources, tools and guidance materials to build organisational capability.
- Support the development of accessible communications, information and community resources.
- Engage with people with disability, community groups and key stakeholders to inform improvements.
- Support continuous improvement through community feedback, participation data and evaluation outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for management and Council.

About you

You are a collaborative and outcomes-focused professional with experience delivering projects, programs or initiatives that improve accessibility, inclusion and community participation.

You can confidently engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, analyse information, identify practical solutions and drive projects from planning through to implementation.

Most importantly, you have a genuine commitment to creating inclusive communities and improving outcomes for people with disability.

You will also have

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in community development, social planning, disability and inclusion, social policy, project management or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant experience.
- Knowledge of disability inclusion, accessibility,



discrimination and equal opportunity legislation and principles.
- Experience developing, implementing or evaluating programs, frameworks, audits or improvement initiatives.
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience developing and delivering training, workshops, resources or capability-building initiatives.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Experience working in local government or the public sector. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of universal design principles. (Desirable)
- Experience developing accessibility or inclusion frameworks, tools or resources. (Desirable)
- Experience using consultation, survey or evaluation data to inform service improvements. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Salisbury's diverse community and demographic profile. (Desirable)
