The Opportunity
Cairns based tole for a Remote Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator - Project Management Office to support the planning, coordination and delivery of a diverse portfolio of community infrastructure projects.
Working within the Project Management Office and reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will provide practical project support across tender preparation, compliance, scheduling, budget monitoring, progress reporting and stakeholder liaison.
The current portfolio includes significant community infrastructure projects such as a Water Treatment Plant, Waste Centre and Splash Park, providing excellent exposure across the full project lifecycle.

About the Role
You will support projects from early planning and tender preparation through to delivery, monitoring and completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation and evaluation of project tenders
- Assisting with business cases, project plans and cost estimates
- Reviewing project feasibility across cost, operational and procurement considerations
- Identifying project risks and supporting appropriate controls
- Tracking project progress against schedules and key milestones
- Coordinating works and resources to support project deadlines
- Monitoring expenditure against approved project budgets
- Conducting project site visits and assessing progress
- Monitoring compliance and quality requirements
- Preparing project progress reports for senior management
- Supporting contractors with procedures, templates and project documentation
- Maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You
You are an organised and practical project professional who enjoys keeping projects on track, working with different stakeholders and managing multiple priorities.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management or an equivalent discipline
- Experience in a project management or coordination role within construction or a related industry
- Experience managing project budgets and financial information
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Ability to analyse complex information and make sound decisions
- Experience preparing reports, tender documentation and project records
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines
- Sound IT skills across Microsoft Office and online/cloud-based platforms
- Current Driver Licence
- Current Criminal History Check or ability to obtain one
Highly regarded:
- Local Government experience
- Experience working within a remote Aboriginal community
- Building project management experience
- Knowledge of cyclone building codes and standards
- Experience with contracts, tenders and procurement
- Understanding of quality standards, specifications and development processes
