We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.
Position Overview
As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, organising and overseeing civil engineering and construction projects from planning through to delivery. You will provide technical engineering expertise across project design, construction methodologies, materials, quality standards, cost management and site coordination, working closely with project managers, site personnel, subcontractors, consultants and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with engineering requirements, specifications and Australian Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, organise and oversee the construction and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Review, interpret and prepare engineering drawings, plans, specifications, construction methods and procedures.
- Organise and coordinate site labour, construction materials, plant and equipment to support the effective delivery of project works.
- Establish and maintain detailed programs for the coordination of site activities, resources and construction works.
- Undertake site inspections, investigations and assessments to determine project requirements, site conditions and construction feasibility.
- Study engineering drawings and specifications to assist with cost estimates, quantity measurements, cost plans and budgetary control.
- Monitor project costs, construction progress and resource requirements, identifying potential cost impacts and delays.
- Monitor changes to designs and assess their impact on project costs, construction methodology, program and resources.
- Measure, value and assist with the negotiation and management of variations to designs, scope and construction works.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and clients to ensure effective project delivery.
- Assist with the design and development of civil infrastructure, including earthworks, roads, drainage, pavements and associated civil works.
- Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, legislation, safety requirements and project specifications.
- Identify project risks, construction issues and opportunities for improvement and implement appropriate engineering and corrective solutions.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and completion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in civil construction and infrastructure projects.
- Experience in planning, coordinating and overseeing civil engineering and construction works.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, plans, specifications and construction documentation.
- Experience with project cost estimation, quantity measurement, cost control and budget management.
- Experience assessing design changes and managing variations to project scope, cost and construction methodology.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, construction legislation, quality requirements and workplace health and safety obligations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/design software.
- White Card and relevant construction qualifications or tickets will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in a Project Engineer, Site Engineer or Graduate Civil Engineer role will be highly regarded.
