About the role

Kummara has continued to grow in the scale and diversity of its services, funding arrangements and organisational responsibilities. As this complexity has increased, so too has the need for strong financial systems, controls and timely information to support effective management.

The Finance Controller is a newly established role designed to strengthen this capability.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Controller is responsible for the stewardship of Kummara's financial resources and the effective management of the organisation's finance function. The focus is practical and hands-on: ensuring accurate financial reporting, sound controls, effective budgeting and forecasting, funding compliance and reliable financial information across Kummara's programs and services.

The Finance Controller will work closely with managers to ensure they understand the financial performance of their programs and have the information they need to manage resources effectively. The role will also support the CEO with accurate and timely organisational financial reporting and analysis.

This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of Kummara's finance function and contribute to strengthening its systems, reporting and capability as the organisation continues to grow.

Key responsibilities

- Managing the day-to-day operation of Kummara's finance function and supporting the finance team

- Preparing timely and accurate monthly financial and management reports

- Managing and developing organisational budgeting, forecasting and cashflow processes

- Monitoring financial performance across programs, funding streams and cost centres, including analysis of material budget variances

- Providing managers with meaningful financial information to support planning,



resource allocation and operational decision-making

- Maintaining effective financial controls, policies, procedures and delegations

- Monitoring compliance with funding agreements, contractual obligations and relevant statutory requirements

- Coordinating financial reporting, grant acquittals and other funding-related reporting requirements

- Coordinating the annual financial audit process and the provision of financial information to external auditors

- Supporting preparation of financial information and reporting for the CEO

About you

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline

- CPA or CA qualification, or substantial progression towards professional accreditation

- Demonstrated experience in a senior financial management, financial controller or similar role

- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and management reporting

- Demonstrated experience managing financial reporting across multiple programs, cost centres and funding streams

- Sound knowledge of financial governance, internal controls, audit processes, statutory compliance and financial risk management

- Experience with government funding, grants, service agreements and acquittal requirements will be highly regarded

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with attention to accuracy and detail

- Demonstrated ability to improve financial systems, processes and reporting





- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief to the Executive and explain financial information clearly to managers and other non-financial stakeholders
