RiverConnect Education & Engagement Officer

Salary: $80,385.24 per annum

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Sustainability and Environment Team as the RiverConnect Education & Engagement Officer. Working with Council staff, RiverConnect partners, schools, volunteers and community groups, you will deliver education, engagement, participation and stewardship initiatives that strengthen connection to the river environment.

About the Role

Supported by the Team Leader Sustainability and Environment and RiverConnect partners, and working closely with the RiverConnect Project Officer you will:

- Deliver RiverConnect Strategic Plan actions and targets
- Develop and facilitate environmental education, outdoor learning and participation activities
- Plan and deliver community events, campaigns, volunteer and stewardship initiatives
- Build relationships with schools, Traditional Owners, partners and community stakeholders
- Create engaging resources, social media, website content and newsletters

This role will suit a motivated, organised and team-oriented individual with strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Applicants with relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in environmental education, community engagement, community development, natural resource management, sustainability or communications are encouraged to apply.

Occasional after-hours and weekend work is required to support activities and events, with time-in-lieu available.
