Our Role

Due to an internal promotion, Kingswood College is seeking an experienced and passionate educational leader to join our community as Head of Individual Differences, commencing January 2027 in a 12-month fixed-term, full-time capacity. This is a significant leadership opportunity for an educator with deep expertise in supporting diverse learners and a commitment to ensuring every student is known and challenged to make meaningful progress.

The Head of Individual Differences leads the provision of education and support for students with diverse learning needs across the Secondary School. You will lead an established, high-performing team, strengthen differentiated teaching practice and ensure student support is underpinned by robust case management and high-quality assessment. The role reports to the Deputy Head of Secondary – Curriculum.

Responsibilities include:

- Lead our high performing team of Individual Differences teachers, Education Support Staff and Thrive Mentors across the Secondary School.
- Oversee the Wellness Centre and a team of allied health professionals
- Oversee case management for students with diverse learning needs and profiles.
- Oversee the development, implementation and review of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), student adjustments and interventions.
- Lead NCCD processes, including data collection, evidence,



funding applications and associated regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen differentiated teaching practices by partnering with classroom teachers and educational leaders in the Secondary School.
- Oversee College assessment programs, including new enrolment assessments, and coordinate adjustments and special provisions for VCE, NAPLAN and other assessments.
- Partner with students, families and external practitioners to develop appropriate educational pathways and support successful transitions.
- Work collaboratively with relevant staff on gifted education and acceleration processes.
- Contribute to broader learning reforms and the continued development of excellent teaching and learning practices across the College.

About You

You are an outstanding teacher and confident people leader who combines extensive knowledge of diverse learning needs with strong systems, case management and organisational capability.

You understand the importance of balancing individual student support with building the capability of teachers and support staff across the Secondary School. You are equally comfortable leading a high-performing team, navigating complex student needs, maintaining meticulous records and working collaboratively with families, colleagues and external practitioners.

You will bring:

- A recognised teaching qualification and current VIT registration.




- Extensive knowledge and experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and profiles.
- Expertise in student case management, NCCD requirements and funding processes, and the development and implementation of ILPs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and maintain a high-performing team, including Teachers, Education Support Staff and student mentors.
- Strong knowledge of differentiated teaching, student assessment, adjustments and special provisions.
- Exceptional communication, organisation and attention to detail.
- The ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with students, families, teachers, College leaders and external practitioners.
- Strong professional judgement when managing complex student matters and confidential information.
