About the role
We are seeking reliable, motivated and enthusiastic Hospitality Assistants to join our Support Services team. This is a varied, hands-on position involving kitchen and food services, commercial cleaning and laundry. The role is essential to maintaining a safe, hygienic and comfortable living environment while supporting a positive dining experience for older persons. Successful applicants must be willing and able to work across all three service areas according to operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
Kitchen and Food Services
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, plating, portioning and presentation of meals under appropriate supervision
- Prepare and serve meals, beverages, snacks and refreshments
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner and other scheduled food services
- Follow individual dietary requirements, food allergies, texture-modified diets and documented meal preferences
- Support a positive, respectful and enjoyable dining experience for older persons
- Assist with meal distribution, dining room preparation and clearing of tables
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment and dishwashers safely
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, food preparation areas and dining environments
- Follow food safety procedures, including safe storage, temperature monitoring, food handling and cleaning requirements
- Complete food safety records and electronic documentation accurately
Commercial Cleaning and Environmental Services
- Undertake routine and scheduled cleaning of older persons' rooms, bathrooms, communal areas and other facility spaces
- Perform cleaning and disinfection in accordance with organisational procedures and infection prevention and control requirements
- Safely operate commercial cleaning machinery and equipment
- Follow established cleaning schedules, checklists and quality standards
- Undertake cleaning of high-touch surfaces and shared equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safe dilution, handling and storage
- Comply with chemical safety requirements and safety data sheets
- Identify and report environmental hazards, maintenance concerns and damaged equipment
Laundry Services
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute clothing and linen
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers and associated laundry equipment
- Maintain appropriate separation of clean, soiled and contaminated laundry
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Handle older persons' personal clothing respectfully and minimise loss or damage
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laundry areas
Workplace Safety, Documentation and Teamwork
- Complete required cleaning, laundry and food safety documentation accurately and within required timeframes
- Use electronic systems to record completed tasks, inspections and relevant service information
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling and equipment operation
- Comply with infection prevention and control requirements, including hand hygiene and personal protective equipment
- Demonstrate excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with older persons, colleagues, supervisors and other departments
- Participate in mandatory training, workplace education and continuous improvement activities
- Respect the privacy, dignity, preferences and independence of older persons
About you
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in hospitality, commercial cleaning, laundry, kitchen services or a similar environment
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Knowledge of safe food handling, hygiene and infection prevention practices
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen, cleaning or laundry equipment safely, following appropriate training
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling requirements
- Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate records, including electronic documentation
- Flexible availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends where required
- Commitment to providing secure, respectful and high-quality services to older persons
Qualifications and Experience – Highly Regarded
- Certificate II in Cookery,
Commercial Cookery or a related hospitality qualification
- Food Safety and Food Handling certification
- Previous experience in residential aged care, healthcare or commercial hospitality environments
- Experience with commercial food preparation, cooking and meal service
- Knowledge of texture-modified meals, dietary requirements and food allergies
- Experience operating commercial kitchen, cleaning and laundry equipment
- Experience using electronic cleaning, food safety or task management systems
Mandatory Employment Requirements
- Satisfy applicable aged care worker screening requirements, including an acceptable National Police Certificate or NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Complete mandatory organisational induction and ongoing training
- Complete food safety and food handling training appropriate to assigned duties
- Comply with the Aged Care Code of Conduct and organisational policies
- Follow infection prevention and control, workplace health and safety and emergency management procedures
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality, professional conduct and respect for older persons
- Be able to safely perform the inherent physical requirements of the position, with reasonable adjustments where appropriate

Our residential aged care facility accommodates 40 older persons across five houses.
