About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Workplace Lawyer / Adviser to join Australian Industry Group's national Workplace Relations Legal & Consulting team.
Unlike many traditional law firm roles, this position offers a unique combination of legal practice, industrial advocacy and strategic workplace relations advisory work, providing exposure to some of Australia's most significant workplace issues.
Working within the specialist legal practice of Australia's leading employer association, you will advise and represent employers on a broad range of workplace, industrial relations and employment law matters. You will work closely with experienced Principals, gaining exposure to advisory, advocacy and litigation matters while building trusted relationships with clients ranging from SMEs to some of Australia's largest employers.
Whilst the reality of each day will be different, you can expect to be accountable for:
• Provide workplace relations, industrial relations and employment law advice to employers across diverse industries.
• Develop strong relationships with members and clients through a high degree of direct interaction and responsibility, with the support and mentoring of experienced Principals.
• Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters, including proceedings before the Fair Work Commission, courts and tribunals.
• Draft and review employment contracts, workplace policies, enterprise agreements and other legal documents.
• Represent and advocate for members and clients in workplace and industrial matters.
• Support enterprise bargaining, compliance, workplace investigations and strategic industrial relations projects.
To best succeed in this role you will have:
• Legal qualification and admission to practice (or eligibility for admission), or equivalent workplace relations qualifications and experience.
• 2-6 years relevant experience in employment law, workplace relations, industrial relations or a related field.
• Strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills;
• Understanding of the employment and workplace legal framework;
• A genuine interest in workplace relations, employment law and industrial advocacy.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team workplace.
