About the role

Alliance Solar is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to support the preparation and development of electrical drawings, technical plans and design documentation for solar energy and associated electrical projects. The successful candidate will work alongside engineers and project personnel to develop accurate technical documentation, assist with system layouts and ensure designs meet project specifications and applicable requirements.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and update detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical plans for solar installations and associated electrical systems.

- Assist engineers with the layout and design documentation of solar PV systems, electrical circuits, cabling arrangements, switchboards and related components.

- Interpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, site information and project requirements to develop accurate drawings.

- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce, revise and maintain electrical drawings and documentation.

- Conduct site visits, where required, to obtain measurements, verify existing conditions and collect information for design development.

- Calculate electrical layout dimensions, cable routes, equipment placement and material quantities in accordance with engineering specifications.

- Review drawings and technical documents for accuracy, consistency and compliance with relevant standards, project requirements and applicable regulations.

- Coordinate with electrical engineers,



installers, project managers, suppliers and other stakeholders to resolve drawing discrepancies and technical issues.

- Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions, technical schedules and project documentation.

- Assist with the preparation of material schedules, technical reports and documentation required for project planning and delivery.

About you

- A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in electrical drafting, electrical design documentation or a related technical role.

- A relevant qualification, such as a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Drafting, Electrical Design or an equivalent relevant discipline.

- Experience using CAD software and preparing technical electrical drawings.

- Understanding of electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, cable layouts and electrical components.

- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to interpret technical specifications and coordinate effectively with engineering and project teams.

- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage competing project deadlines.
