Junior Estimator / Estimator – Civil, Paving & Concrete

Civilworks Australia Group is seeking a Junior Estimator/Estimator to join our growing team in Padstow, NSW. We are a specialist paving and concrete subcontractor supplying and installing council-approved granite and porcelain pavers, and the concrete works beneath them, for footpaths, driveways and public domain areas across Sydney. Our clients are builders, head contractors and landscape contractors on commercial, residential and public domain projects.

This is a full-time position offering an excellent prospect for someone looking to build a career in estimating within a specialist trade. You will work closely with our General Manager and senior team, gaining hands-on experience in measuring, pricing and tendering paving and concrete packages. Accurate pricing is the foundation of every job we win and deliver profitably, and this role sits right at the centre of it.

Key responsibilities

- Measuring and preparing cost estimates for paving and concrete packages from architectural, landscape and civil drawings and specifications

- Taking off quantities for pavers, bedding, concrete slabs, kerbs, edge restraints and associated works

- Sourcing and comparing supplier pricing for pavers, stone, concrete and materials, and obtaining subcontractor quotes where required

- Identifying scope gaps, exclusions and risks in tender documents and raising RFIs with builders and consultants

- Maintaining our estimating spreadsheets, rate libraries and supplier pricing with accuracy

- Compiling tender submissions, quotations and cost breakdowns for builders and head contractors

- Liaising with project managers, architects, landscape architects and builders to clarify scope and specification

- Supporting the review of estimates before submission and assisting with post-tender clarifications

- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of our estimating templates and processes

What we’re looking for





- A qualification in construction, quantity surveying, civil engineering or estimating, or equivalent practical experience in a trade or site role

- Strong numeracy and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

- Confident in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with spreadsheets and rate databases

- Ability to read and interpret construction, landscape and civil drawings

- A sound understanding of construction processes; exposure to paving, concrete, landscaping or civil works is a strong advantage

- Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work as part of a small, hands-on team

- Capacity to manage several tenders at once and meet submission deadlines

- A keen interest in developing specialist estimating expertise and growing with the business

- Preferred: experience with take-off or estimating software, or exposure to tender and subcontract processes
