About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to coordinate asphalt resurfacing, pavement rehabilitation and road maintenance projects across the Illawarra region.
You will manage contractors, oversee construction activities and ensure roadworks are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required engineering standards. This role offers a balance of project management and practical site engineering, with regular travel between multiple worksites.
- Pay Rate: $1,000 per day + superannuation
- Location: Russell Vale NSW
- Start Date: ASAP
- Expected Contract End: 30 April 2027
- Anticipated Hours: 40 hours per week
- Work Arrangement: Five days on-site or in the office
- Site Travel: Multiple locations across the region - vehicle provided for work-related site travel
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver asphalt resurfacing, pavement rehabilitation and road maintenance projects.
- Coordinate contractors, construction crews and engineering service providers.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resources and construction milestones.
- Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, technical specifications and contract documentation.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction quality and progress.
- Oversee asphalt works,
pavement repairs and associated civil construction activities.
- Review engineering drawings, technical reports and quality assurance records.
- Identify project risks, resolve site issues and manage contractor performance.
- Liaise with councils, contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate works.
- Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and road construction requirements.
- Support traffic management planning and minimise disruption to road users.
- Maintain accurate project reports, inspection records and delivery documentation.
About You
We are looking for a practical, delivery-focused Civil Engineer with strong technical knowledge, hands-on construction experience and the ability to manage multiple road infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience delivering civil infrastructure, road construction, asphalt resurfacing or pavement maintenance projects.
- Current Construction White Card
- Current unrestricted driver's licence for regular travel between project sites.
- Current Worker's on Foot or willingness to obtain prior to commencement (at own expense)
- Traffic Control tickets or willingness to obtain (at own expense)
- Previous asphalt, pavement rehabilitation or road maintenance experience
- Experience working with NSW Government, local councils or major civil construction contractors
- Sound knowledge of road construction standards, engineering specifications and quality assurance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors, construction schedules, project budgets and site activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, prepare technical documentation and resolve construction issues.
- Strong understanding of WHS, environmental compliance and traffic management requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project or similar project management systems (desirable).
- Strong communication,
stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
- To be eligible for this role, you must hold valid Australian working rights with no restrictions (such as Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or an unrestricted work visa). Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
- Willingness to complete two professional reference checks and a National Police Check at offer stage.
- Ability to meet mandatory pre-employment compliance requirements, including acceptance of the Code of Conduct.
