Join a leading Australian energy business in a newly created role at the centre of how the organisation plans and makes decisions. You’ll own medium-term and integrated planning across Australian and New Zealand operations as well as trading and shipping, turning complex data into clear insights that senior leaders can act on.
This is a rare chance to build a recent function from the ground up. Within 18-24 months, the team is expected to evolve into a Centre of Excellence, and you’ll shape what it looks like, what analytics it owns, and what stays with the business.
What you’ll do
- Lead planning and analysis that supports commercial decisions, tactical analysis and medium-term planning
- Build and develop a high-performing analytics team and define its scope and operating model
- Understand the end-to-end supply chain and value chain, and translate the numbers into the “so what” for the business
- Review current analytical methods and introduce future best practice
- Shape and deliver a change plan, partnering with stakeholders across every part of the business
- Present and test recommendations with senior leaders
Your first 3 months
- Get to know the supply chain and develop a roadmap for the team
- Learn the current analytical approach and propose better practices
- Help shape the change plan and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders
About you
- Strong experience in planning, value chain,
commercial analysis and analytics, with the ability to see the story behind the data
- A solid grasp of how a supply chain works, beyond spreadsheet modelling
- Experience leading or building teams, ideally at a scale that required you to define how analytics should be structured
- Comfortable handling pressure and ambiguity, with the resilience to tackle problems that stakeholders want solved
- High emotional intelligence and credibility with senior stakeholders
- An engineering, commercial or analytical background; finance qualifications are welcome, but this isn’t a traditional finance role
- Experience in fuels, energy, mining or resources is advantageous, but not essential. The right mix of intellect and EQ matters more than industry background
- A consulting background and exposure to transformation programs are highly regarded, along with the ability to adapt to a corporate culture and drive change within it
Why this role

- Broad exposure across all areas of the business thanks to the integrated nature of the role
- Genuine career pathways into commercial, supply or operations leadership
- The chance to build a new function and make a lasting impact
