Your new company
Hays is partnering with a well-respected Aboriginal community organisation to recruit an Aboriginal Youth Health Promotion Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of young people and communities across Western Australia.
This role focuses on delivering culturally appropriate health education programs, developing community relationships, and supporting initiatives that improve health literacy and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal young people aged approximately 18-26 years. Experience in youth work, community engagement, health promotion, sexual health, public health, or a related field will be highly regarded. Extensive technical sexual health knowledge is not required. However, some exposure to health education, wellbeing programs, or health promotion activities is desirable.
Your new role
- Deliver engaging health promotion and education programs for Aboriginal communities.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and community events.
- Support the development of culturally appropriate educational resources and campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders and partner organisations.
- Assist with project coordination, reporting, evaluation, and program planning.
- Support peer education and community capacity-building initiatives.
- Contribute to health promotion strategies focused on improving outcomes for Aboriginal young people.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience working with young people, Aboriginal communities,
community development, health promotion, wellbeing programs, or related services.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships across diverse communities.
- Confidence facilitating group sessions, workshops, or educational activities.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A collaborative approach combined with the ability to work independently.
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Aboriginal young people in metropolitan, regional, and remote communities.
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to undertake regional and overnight travel
What you'll get in return
- Salary between $84,500 and $90,500 plus 12% superannuation.
