This is not simply a production operator role. You will be working on challenging, high-value components where accuracy, attention to detail and workmanship are critical. The work will provide variety and technical challenge, requiring you to apply your machining knowledge and experience to achieve the best possible result. You will work alongside experienced machinists, programmers, engineers and quality personnel in a collaborative and supportive environment where people are encouraged to share knowledge, solve problems and continually improve. Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machining centres, lathes and/or other precision machining equipment.
- Manufacture complex and challenging components to exact specifications.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Select appropriate tooling, jig and fixturing and machining processes.
- Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Use precision measuring equipment to verify component accuracy.
- Identify and resolve machining issues to achieve the required quality.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, machine care and workplace safety.
- Work collaboratively with programmers, engineers and fellow machinists.
- Take ownership of the quality and workmanship of your components.
About you
- A trade qualification in Engineering, Fitting & Machining, CNC Machining or equivalent.
- Experience operating and setting CNC machinery.
- Strong machining knowledge and practical problem-solving ability.
- The ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
- A strong understanding of tooling, fixturing and machining processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- A genuine commitment to producing high-quality work.
- The ability to work independently while also being a supportive and cooperative team member.
