The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Contract and Procurement Advisor to join our Governance and Commercial Services team.
This is an exciting chance to contribute to Council's procurement and contract management activities, ensuring best practice procurement, strong governance and value for money across the organisation.
Reporting to the Manager Governance and Commercial Services, you'll play an integral role in delivering procurement and contract administration services across Council. You'll provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders, while ensuring procurement activities comply with legislation, Council policies and best practice principles.
Working collaboratively across all departments, you'll help deliver procurement outcomes that support Council's strategic objectives and benefit our community.
Key Responsibilities
As a Contract and Procurement Advisor you will:
- Coordinate end-to-end procurement and tender processes.
- Promote an understanding and provide guidance on relevant procurement and contract management policies, processes and procedures across the organisation.
- Assist business units in the development of procurement plans and to identify opportunities to achieve value for money in the delivery of Council's services and works.
- Participate in the review of standards, systems and processes to ensure procurement and contract management practices are effective,
meet quality and probity standards and comply with the applicable legislation and government policy and guidelines.
- Manage specific contracts with external providers against service delivery specifications and financial performance indicators.
- As required, participate in tender evaluation processes and associated probity requirements.
- Participate in the implementation of procurement and contracting quality assurance systems including compliance audits, training programs, mentoring programs and health checks.
- Assist in the organisation and delivery of induction and refresher training sessions in Council's Procurement policies, procedures and processes.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, tendering and contract administration.
- Sound knowledge of procurement legislation, governance principles and best practice procurement.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- The ability to build productive relationships across a diverse organisation.
- Experience working with procurement systems and maintaining accurate contract records.
- Relevant qualifications in procurement, commerce, business or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
